Case Studies

Glass House Brick Lane, a versatile venue in Shoreditch, tasked SRD Group with setting up its camera and studio lighting when it launched in 2019.

The venue serves as a cafe and flexible working space by day, and a bar by night. It also contains a recording studio, which hosts the Glass House Games podcast. In 2021, the venue decided to expand its downstairs basement into a performance area for live music and streaming, and SRD returned to help them realise the new project.

SRD Installations Manager Matt Stridgen and his team were on hand to provide detailed technical support, and put in place an audio and camera infrastructure alongside installing new light fixtures.

A tab-track and curtains were installed in the basement, accentuating the flexible nature of the performance space by allowing it to be split in two as and when necessary. A series of Astra 6X bicolour lighting panels were installed in the podcast studio, as SRD moved four Chauvet warm white fresnels into the performance space below. Eve RGB features were also added to provide backlighting.

For audio, a pair of Yamaha CSX10s were installed for monitors, alongside CSX12s for the main PA and a CZR15 sub. An Allen and Heath SQ5 Dante console and a DT168 stage box allowed for audio to be controlled. A production case with a built-in monitor at the back of the performance area was also installed, as were a number of facility panels allowing connectivity for camera positions while streaming.

Kit Critchley, Founder at Glass House, was delighted with the job done by SRD. He said: “Matt, Ian and the team were a pleasure to work with. SRD delivers expert advice whilst also keeping in mind the wishes of their clients. We have undertaken two projects with SRD so far, and they will be our first port of call in the future.”
